My Story

I started to be interested in food when I was in my late teens in Italy. I asked myself “why would supermarket-bought tortellini last for weeks in the fridge whilst my mother’s fresh ravioli would last just a few days?”

My quest for the answers took me to college and a career in the food industry. After becoming food intolerant, my quest took me back into university to study nutrition and then into three years of professional training as a Nutritional Therapist.

From 2018 I have been working with private clients in my own nutrition business and I have over 300 hours of clinical experience.

My Practice

My specific expertise and experience is advising my clients about gastro-intestinal health, digestive health and supporting my clients’ well-being through the process of healing the gut. I cover a broad range of issues - nutrition imbalances, hormonal imbalances such as polycystic ovary syndrome, menopausal symptoms, skin disorders such as acne, eczema and psoriasis and weight management. See my A-Z of issues.

My Background

I’ve always worked in the food industry. I started my career working for a laboratory specialising in food analysis. This role developed my knowledge about food products and convenience foods.

After moving to London in my late 20’s I worked as a New Product Developer for an Italian manufacturer and importer. My job involved frequent trips back to Italy to taste authentic Italian food and I worked with a team of chefs to choose recipes for the UK.

Can you imagine a better job?!

But then it all started to go wrong.

My issues with food

On the business trips I began to experience abdominal pain and cramping. I noticed that the combination of eating pasta followed by gelato - a classic food combination of Italian summer evenings – was a disaster for my digestion.

As I reached my 30’s my digestive issues kept on coming and going, alternating good weeks with occasional bad days. I had uncomfortable feelings of bloating that were starting to become more frequent.

When I reached my 40’s that my symptoms got worse and worse. I started to struggle with almost daily digestive issues, feeling uncomfortably full and in pain after every meal. I started to ask myself “what’s in my food and in my diet?” I read books about low pH diets, pain-free diets, vegetarian diets. You name it, I have read it! But the more articles and books I read, the more I became confused and I asked myself “what is a healthy diet for me?”

My expertise in relation to food and nutrition

Wanting to know all the answers, I decided to study all aspects of human health and disease in relation to food and nutrition. I graduated three years later as Nutritional Therapist at the College of Naturopathic Medicine.

Fast forward 10 years and I am somewhat grateful that my digestive symptoms (now I know all the answers to my issues!) has taken me into my own nutrition business where I am able to help my clients to feel better in themselves, restoring lost health and energy.

When the power of good nutrition has positive results for my clients’ health, it never ceases to amaze us both.
