Many clients come to see me about weight. This could be losing weight, gaining weight or clients trying to manage or maintain a good healthy weight. The weight management industry – the books, the clubs, the tablets, the shakes – is a billion pound industry, however, working with a nutritional therapist means that you have the expertise of one person who is focusing on one client – you.
You may think you are eating the wrong foods or think you are eating the right foods, you may be eating too much or too little, or taking supplements which aren’t right for your body. You may be healthy, unhealthy, in pain, ill, lacking in nutrients, have hormonal imbalances, allergies, skin problems, lack energy, be unable to sleep, be overweight or underweight, tired and stressed. Weight plays a huge role in the way we feel – and affects our health and confidence levels.
What is important is for us to understand the underlying issues of your weight. We do this through getting to know each other on a 1:1 basis. During our time together we will discuss you and your relationship with food – your history with food and your medical history, what you like to eat, what you don’t like to eat, your lifestyle and what you would like to achieve. I focus on helping clients restore their metabolic health as this is the most efficient way to lose weight.
My step-by-step coaching method is based on three principles – balancing blood sugar hormones, cleansing the liver and improve the gut flora in order to train your body to start burning fat effectively again.
Metabolic Balance®
The Metabolic Balance® plan is a personalised nutrition programme that uses individual biochemistry based on a blood test to determine what food works best for you. Metabolic Balance® uses certain principles to reset your hormone levels, particularly insulin, in order to regulate the storage of fat. It is not based on calorie content or percentage of fats, carbs and proteins – instead, it is based directly on how certain foods affect your hormones and any specific nutrients you’re lacking.
The Metabolic Balance® food plan controls blood sugar with a 5-hour gap between the 3 meals a day in order to control blood glucose and appetite. It helps to optimise insulin & cortisol, two of the most important hormones linked with well-being and ageing.
Metabolic Balance® is not a short term reduced calorie diet. It is an empowering 4-step plan over 12 weeks with support from me. I will guide you through the programme and hold your hand until you are fully independent to follow your optimal eating plan for life.
